The color and opacity settings for each of the tools below can be set when the tool is first used. Alternatively, after you draw on an image, if you click on the completed object the color picker window will appear. The color and opacity of both the edge (left side) and the center (right) area can be set. The opacity bar is on the bottom of the color popup window and can be dragged to the left (transparent) or right (opaque).
|Blackout||Blackout region in DICOM images||The Blackout tool is used to "blackout" areas of the an image that contain patient information or other information from the DICOM images and the created JPG, TIFF and PowerPoint images. To use the tool click and drag across the image to create a rectangle. WHen you click the save button, the region is blacked out on all images. There is an option to blackout the same area of the current image, the current series, or all the images in the case. nnThe Blackout tool can also be used to help the DICOM Pixel Anonymizer. The DICOM Pixel Anonymizer tool uses DICOM header information to automatically black out areas of specific types of DICOM images. If you commonly find images with patient information in them, it may be worthwhile to explore the script used to automatically black out areas of images. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for help. You may need to send a sample image containing NO PATIENT information so the image type can be evaluated.|
|Ellipse||Draw Ellipse or Circle on image||The Ellipse tool can be used to create either an ellipse or circle on the image. Click and drag to set the size and shape.|
|Curve||Draw curve on image||The Curve tool can be used to trace around anatomic structures, and subsequently paint the inside of the object with variable amounts of opacity, allowing the user to "see through" the painted area. To use the tool, click on the edge of an object and continue clicking around the edge. The tool works by creating a smooth curve between all the points, similar to a bezier curve. Double click on the last point to complete. The points can be adjusted as needed by placing the cursor over them. When the point becomes green, you can click and drag the point.|
|Arrow||Draw Arrow on Image||The Arrow tool creates arrows to annotate the images. The size and shape of the arrowhead can be adjusted by the popup window. Click and drag across the image to set the length and angle of the arrow.|
|Text||Draw Text on Image||The Text tool can be used to put text on the image. It also allows adjustments to the font style and size. Arial font is used due to ease of reading. You can also create an opaque background to write on.|
|Invert||Invert Image(s)||The Invert tool inverts the window and level setting on an image. Click the Save button to save out the invert setting for the future.|
|Window / Level||Change Window / Level of Image||The Window / Level tool allows the user to set the window and level of either the current DICOM image / series / or all DICOM images in the case. If the user is logged in and has editing privileges, the Window and Level settings can be saved with the case. If the user is not logged in, and the window and level settings are changed, those changes will not be saved.|
